We keep the account information needed to sign in and your learning progress. Answers support scoring, review and difficulty selection. The website has no advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal data.
1. Scope and responsible party
This Policy applies to the Lingo Arena website, web application and related services. The operator that determines why and how data is processed acts as controller or its local equivalent under applicable law.
Send privacy questions and rights requests to privacy@lingo-arena.com. Third-party websites linked from the Service have their own policies.
2. Data we process
The table below describes the principal data we process. The free version does not require you to enter your real name manually or provide contacts, precise location, an identity number or a payment card. If you choose Google sign-in, Google may return your account name and profile picture, as explained below. Please do not submit unnecessary personal information in open text fields.
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Account and authentication | Email, account identifier, email verification status and sign-in state; Google sign-in may also include a name and profile picture URL | You; Google when you choose Google sign-in; generated as you use the Service |
| Learning settings | Learning language, interface and support language, current level, time zone | Your choices; device time zone |
| Learning activity | Placement and practice sessions, questions, answers, grading, knowledge points, review times and accuracy | Created as you learn |
| Progress and rewards | Learned and due counts, XP, coins, answer streaks, check-ins and day streaks | Calculated from activity |
| Content you submit | Answers, text, voice and feedback | You submit it |
| Technical and safety | Device and request information needed to provide, troubleshoot and protect the Service | Generated on access |
3. Where data comes from
Data comes from the email, choices, answers, text, recordings and feedback you provide; device language, time zone and basic technical signals; and levels, reviews and rewards calculated from learning activity.
We do not currently buy personal profiles from data brokers or import contacts or social graphs.
When you choose Google sign-in, we receive your email address, account identifier, email verification status, and any name and profile picture URL returned by Google. Google sign-in does not grant us access to read Gmail messages, Google Drive files or contacts.
4. Why we use data
We use data to authenticate you, sync progress, select courses and questions, score answers, schedule review, provide learning cards and text-to-speech, and display check-ins and rewards.
Limited technical and activity records also protect accounts, investigate errors, prevent abuse and—when de-identified or aggregated—show whether a feature is working.
Google sign-in data is used to verify your identity, create and identify the linked account, maintain sign-in and manage account information. Your email and account identifier link learning progress to your account; any name and profile picture URL returned by Google are stored as account information.
5. Legal bases
Where law requires a stated legal basis, we mainly rely on performing the Service you request; legitimate interests in protecting the Service and users; compliance with law; and consent for access such as the microphone.
You may withdraw consent where it applies without affecting earlier lawful processing. If required data is withheld, the corresponding feature may not work.
6. Adaptive learning and automated choices
The Service uses answers, level, review status and content difficulty to select the next question, schedule review or suggest a level change. These choices affect only the learning experience and do not create legal, employment, credit or similarly significant effects.
You remain in control: choose a starting level, skip placement, retake it, answer “I don’t know,” change languages or stop a session.
7. Intelligent and voice features
To provide intelligent learning and voice features, our technical service providers may process the text, voice and learning context needed for the requested operation. We provide only the information needed to run the feature.
8. Recipients and disclosures
Technical service providers that help us operate and support the Service may process necessary data while performing their services. We may also disclose necessary information when required by law or to protect users, the Service and legitimate interests. We do not sell personal data or use it for cross-site targeted advertising.
We use a third-party authentication service to provide sign-in and to process and store the corresponding account information, including your email, account identifier, and any name and profile picture URL returned by Google. Google processes sign-in and authorisation requests; its processing within its own services is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
9. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies or local storage needed to maintain sign-in, language preferences and interface settings. The website currently has no advertising tracking. If non-essential analytics or marketing technology is introduced, we will update this notice and offer choices where required.
Your browser may store sign-in credentials and basic account information. Signing out does not delete your account or learning records.
10. Retention
We keep personal data only for as long as needed to provide the Service, protect accounts and meet legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
These retention rules also apply to Google sign-in data and account information held by the authentication service. You can request deletion of your account and related personal data at privacy@lingo-arena.com; data that must be retained by law is handled under the applicable requirements.
11. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature and risk of the data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; contact the privacy address if you suspect a security issue.
12. International processing
To provide the Service, personal data may be processed outside your country or region. We use safeguards required by applicable law.
13. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, copy, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent and complain to a regulator.
Send requests to privacy@lingo-arena.com. We may verify your identity to protect the account and will respond within the applicable period.
You can remove the Lingo Arena sign-in connection in the third-party connections settings of your Google account. Removing the connection does not automatically delete your account or saved data; contact us to request deletion.
14. Children and young users
The Service is available only to users aged 13 or older, or the higher minimum age required by local law. If we discover personal data from someone below the applicable age, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Related requests may be sent to the privacy address.
15. No sale and tracking technology
We do not sell personal data, and the website currently does not use cross-site targeted advertising tracking. If our practice changes, we will update this Policy and any applicable controls.
16. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the Service, law or security practice changes. We will explain material changes by a reasonable method, update the date above and request consent where law requires it.
17. Contact and complaints
Send access, correction, deletion or other privacy requests to privacy@lingo-arena.com. Do not submit personal data through public channels.
